We go to our dear friends’ daughter’s Bat Mitzvah
the Jewish coming of age ceremony that happens when a child transitions into religious adulthood.

This requires a 4-hour-each-way train journey
(for us to attend, not the Bat Mitzvah ceremony itself)
which is not something we’ve done for a while
and of course we are stuck in Euston
for an hour
in 30° heat
eating Burger King.
